‘Blood-spattered walls and mouldy equipment’: How a quarter of NHS trusts are a breeding ground for bugs

Add to My Stories A quarter of all hospitals are failing to meet basic hygiene standards with some treating patients on blood spattered wards or with mouldy instruments, a damning report has found. A third of ambulance trusts have also missed the targets set, according to the Care Quality Commission. The watchdog’s report on its tough new hygiene standards introduced following a series of scandals at Maidstone, Basildon and Stafford found that many patients were still being treated in filthy conditions.
