Boots and Mothercare still stock bottles made with bisphenol A, or BPA, a controversial chemical that mimics the female sex hormone oestrogen. BPA, which is used to make polycarbonate, has been banned from baby bottles in Canada and three US states after scientists found it can cause serious health problems in animals
