‘Fit notes’ replace sick notes as doctors decide what tasks unwell employees can perform

Add to My Stories A crackdown on work-shy employees launched today will force doctors to replace sick notes with ‘fit notes’, the British Medical Association said. The move requires GPs to detail the duties workers can carry out as part of a bid to reduce the billions of pounds lost to the economy through ill-health. The fit notes, which will be given to employees off work for more than seven days, could also help stop people from ending up on incapacity benefits
