Add to My Stories Scientists have discovered how our smallest blood vessels expel debris such as clots or cholesterol – they SPIT it out. This allows the flow of essential nutrients to brain cells, according to a Northwestern University study. The capillaries spit out the blockage by growing a membrane that envelopes the obstruction and then shoves it out of the blood vessel.
