Cheap drug could save sight

An inexpensive but unlicensed drug called bevacizumab can prevent sight loss for people with age-related macular degeneration (AMD), according to new research. Bevacizumab is many times cheaper than a similar, alternative drug, but was originally developed to treat bowel cancer, and hadn’t previously been tested as a treatment for AMD.
